Livestream and Results: Riga European Hopes Tournament 2025

This weekend, the European Judo Hopes Tournament & Technical Session Kodokan Experts 2025 will take place in Riga. It is the seventh European Hopes tournament this year, part of a growing segment within the European Judo Union, in a city that is consistently active in promoting judo. Riga has already organised the European Cup for seniors in March and the Cadet European Cup in October.

The European Hopes Tournament is open to young athletes in the U15 and U13 categories. The event is combined with a Technical Session Seminar (all groups) and a coaches’ meeting.

The federation, led by 2000 Olympic bronze medallist Vsevolods Zelonijs, plays a central role in organising events. In 2021, Latvia hosted the cadet European Championships. In the cadet age category, Latvia has several promising young athletes who have won international titles, while at senior level Anthony De Angelis and Maksims Duinovs appear on the medal podium with increasing frequency. During the upcoming weekend, the city will present its next wave of up-and-coming talents.
