Luxembourg Hosts First Implementation of the Safe Fall–Safe Schools Programme

The first intervention of the European Safe Fall–Safe Schools programme in Luxembourg was proudly celebrated at LUNEX University, marking a pioneering initiative that combines education, sport and public health to foster safer school environments through the teaching of safe falling techniques, also known as ukemi.

This important milestone was made possible as a results of the dedicated collaboration of:

As a symbolic conclusion to the intervention, a commemorative plaque was presented to Um Weier School in honour of its commitment to educational innovation and the promotion of well-being within the community. While a full data analysis is still forthcoming, the initial results are highly encouraging, reflecting the positive impact already observed in other European countries participating in the programme.

This event marks a significant step in Luxembourg’s commitment to delivering safer, more inclusive education. By integrating physical literacy, emotional resilience and preventive health education into the school curriculum, Luxembourg is actively responding to the World Health Organisation’s call to action on reducing childhood falls, one of the leading causes of injury among children globally.
