The city of Maintal is gearing up for an action-packed judo fortnight. From 27–28 September, the Veteran European Cup and Ne-waza Tournament will take center stage, before the spotlight shifts a week later to the European Kata Tournament. Both competitions serve as crucial stepping stones toward the upcoming World Veteran and Kata Championships, held in Paris between 3-9 November.
More than 155 judoka from 25 nations are set to descend on Germany this weekend. France, eager to fine-tune its form before hosting the Worlds, brings the second-largest delegation with 19 competitors. Germany, meanwhile, has every reason to showcase its strength at home. The hosts finished third on the medal table at the 2025 Veteran Europeans with an impressive 12 gold, 9 silver, and 18 bronze medals, a performance that underlines why Maintal is the perfect stage for hosting this event. Friends and family won’t miss a moment: the event will be streamed live on JudoTV.com.
When it comes to the kata event, the host nation depth and consistency at both European and world level promises even more success. On 4 October, Germany’s kata enthusiasts will once again have the chance to shine on home soil.
