Official Visit to the French School of the Caucasus in Tbilisi

On the occasion of the European Judo Championships 2026 in Tbilisi, France Judo organised a session at the French School of the Caucasus (École française du Caucase), continuing a series of similar initiatives held alongside major international events.

In the spirit of Jita Kyoei, members of France Judo, the European Judo Union and the Georgian Judo Federation came together to deliver this initiative, creating a meaningful and symbolic opportunity to demonstrate how, through judo, the bonds across Europe can be further strengthened.

Gevrise Emane, Education Director of the European Judo Union and Vice President of France Judo, reflected:

“The event organised at the French School of the Caucasus was a valuable opportunity to share the expertise developed by France Judo, in a spirit of solidarity and collective capacity-building. It was also an opportunity to highlight the invaluable power of judo: its ability to connect people.

“In a world that is increasingly divided and focused on differences, here, at the French School of the Caucasus, surrounded by young people from diverse communities, as well as representatives of the European Judo Union, including Ms Kristiina Pekkola, the Georgian Judo Federation with champion Mr Tego Zirakashvili, and delegates of the French Judo Federation, judo once again demonstrated its unique ability to build bridges.

“EJU President Dr Tóth László encouraged all Executive Committee members to share best practices and initiatives from across the 51 National Federations, with the aim of enhancing collective capabilities and driving overall performance. I fully embraced this approach.”
