One Week Until the European Judo Championships Kata Riga 2025

With just one week to go, excitement is building across the European judo kata community as Riga, Latvia prepares to host the European Judo Championships Kata 2025. From 31st May to 1st June, the continent’s top kata pairs will gather to demonstrate the artistry, precision and discipline that define this traditional form of judo.

Impressively, over 150 pairs have entered the competition, representing a wide range of nations, age groups and disciplines. This strong turnout reflects the growing interest and high level of dedication to kata throughout Europe. Riga’s rich cultural heritage and modern sporting facilities make it the perfect setting for an international event that blends tradition and competitive spirit.

This inclusive championship will also feature adapted judoka, who will demonstrate their skills in pursuit of European titles, highlighting the sport’s commitment to accessibility and equal opportunity. In the days leading up to the competition, the annual Kodokan Kata Seminar will take place from 28–30 May, bringing together distinguished experts from the Kodokan Institute in Japan and leading European instructors. The seminar will serve as a premier platform for technical development and cultural exchange within the kata community.
