The Benidorm OTC is still running at full speed and, with that, the European Judo Union (EJU) took the opportunity to deliver another EJU Coaching and Referee Seminar, open to coaches, athletes and other interested participants. Leading the session were Nuno Carvalho, EJU Referee Commissioner, and Erez Nevo, Head Sport Commissioner.

The programme exists to keep the judo community updated on rule developments, interpretation adjustments and the application of regulations, all of which continue to evolve throughout the year.
Discussion topics in Benidorm included yuko, grip breaks, wasting time, neck and spine safety, staying up to date with non-combativity, illness and injury management, among other key areas.
Mr Nevo shared the importance of these moments:
“These seminars are important because they bring coaches, referees and athletes together to have real discussions, share understanding and improve knowledge across the sport. It creates an opportunity to provide information, answer questions and encourage open dialogue. By involving athletes too, they can better understand how coaches and referees think, creating greater understanding across all areas of judo and ultimately helping the sport continue to develop.”
The next EJU Referee and Coaching Seminar will take place during the Poreč OTC from 8–13 June 2026.
