It has been a long period for the organising team of Slovenia, hosting both the Veteran and Kata European Championships as well as a Kodokan Seminar, and now they are welcoming over 250 athletes from 22 nations for the Senior European Cup 2023.
They have excelled in their hosting skills and the athletes have much to look forward to this weekend. Some arriving in Podcetrtek have been preparing for the event in the OTC in Poreč, Croatia and will be ready to take on the challenge for a gold medal.
Maria HOELLWART (AUT) took her first European Open medal in Madrid only last week and came straight to the camp with Team Austria, and now she will hope to continue her golden streak in the +78kg category. Another top female seed is Aleksandra SAMARDZIC (BIH) in the -70kg category, taking on the Bosnian athlete is the U23 European champion, Samira BOCK (GER). In fact SAMARDZIC siblings will be in action, as Andjela will also be competing in -63kg this time, when we usually see her in the -57kg category.
