Podgorica Gears Up for Junior European Championships 2026

Momentum is building in Podgorica as preparations intensify for the Junior European Judo Championships 2026, set to take place this September. Following last year’s highly successful Senior European Judo Championships, the Montenegrin capital once again steps into the spotlight, this time with its focus firmly on the next generation of talent.

As part of the ongoing preparations, EJU Head Sport Director, Urška Žolnir Jugovar visited Podgorica, accompanied by EJU Head of Event Management and Broadcasting, Janity Tibor. The inspection provided a comprehensive overview of the progress made so far and the signs are encouraging.

At the heart of the organisation remains the same experienced team, led by President Jovica Račević. With proven capability and a clear vision, their objective is not simply to replicate last year’s success but to elevate it. Every detail is being carefully considered to ensure that the event meets and exceeds the standards expected on the European stage.

The visit confirmed a high level of professionalism and dedication across all operational areas. From venue readiness to logistical planning, the organisers demonstrated both precision and ambition in equal measure.

Žolnir Jugovar reflected positively on the progress, noting, “It is clear that the organisers are building on a strong foundation. The level of preparation and commitment we have seen gives us great confidence ahead of September.”

With a trusted team, valuable experience and strong local support, Podgorica stands ready to deliver once again. More than just a competition, the Junior European Championships will provide a vital platform for emerging athletes, a stage on which future champions will take their first major steps.
