RECORD ATTENDANCE  IN ZAGREB

The 12th edition of the Cadet European Judo Cup in Zagreb will be the strongest in history as 844 participants from 32 countries will perform in Sports hall “Sutinska vrela” this weekend.

So all judo lovers will enjoy Saturday and Sunday in Zagreb and support our best hopes such as Miljević, Violić, Štengl, Pavić, Vuković, Brletić and many others.

“Every year we get some new names right through the tournament in Zagreb. Actually this is a great opportunity to be in one place and continue towards the strongest competitions in season, the Cadet European Championships at the beginning of July, the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in July and the Cadet World Championships in August”, announced Dean Ilić, head men coach of Croatia.

The opening ceremony of #JudoZagreb2017 is scheduled for Saturday at 14.30 (CET) and competition will be open by the Mayor City of Zagreb, Milan Bandić.

In addition to the IJF Zagreb Grand Prix and senior European Judo Cup in Dubrovnik, Croatia is recognized in the judo world also because of the European Cup for Cadets. The first edition of this tournament was held in 2006. The high standard organization had its’ first record breaking attendance in 2014 with 794 competitors. This year, the amount has exceeded up to 844 competitors form 32 countries, whom are going to travel to Zagreb from all different sides of the World; even from as far as all Argentina and Brazil. Sanda Corak, President of the Croatian Judo Federation, said:

“This year, we are confirming the quality of the European Cup for Cadets in Zagreb, primarily by increasing the number of competitors. We look forward to the performance of our judoka and this is an ideal opportunity to experience high-quality fights in the domestic mat.”
