Russia put in fine performances on the second day of the European Cup for Juniors in Leibnitz / Austria taking three gold medals. Nevertheless the field of medal winners was wide spread with 15 nations earning at least one medal. In addition the hosts Austria were lucky today: two medals, one silver and one bronze in the men’s categories was an excellent result in such a big tournament.
Wrapping things up and looking at the whole tournament Russia finished with 4 gold medals, followed by Azerbaijan with three and France with 2 titles. Host Austria finished in a credible seventh position with one medal of each colour. Overall 21 nations won a medal, Japan with 8 men only earned one Bronze, Judoka from 25 nations were ranked 1 to 7. Over the next few days many of the competitors will stay in Leibnitz to enjoy the training camp and the hospitality of Austria.
