Shoji Sugiyama awarded at EJU Kata Tournament in Pordenone

The 6th EJU Kata Tournament was attended by twenty-seven couples from seven nations. For many athletes this competition was a training for the next European kata Championship that will be host in Malta the 18-19 of May.

On the occasion of the award ceremony a special ceremony was given to Shoji Sugiyama Sensei, who turned 80 years old just few days before the Competition and was awarded by the Italian Judo federation President Mr Matteo Pellicone with the gold medal for sporting merit.

Before the EJU tournaments it was organised the seminar for EJU Kata Judges and examinations with the presence of the EJU Commissioner S. Sugyiama, E. Veulemans, M. Kozlowsky, C. D’Arcangelo. 

19 Judges from 8 Nations participated at the Seminar and 14 Judges were candidates to the examinations: 4 candidates achieved the Continental license while 10 candidates increased the number of licenses.
