SILVEIRA SHINES WITH GOLD FOR PORTUGAL

The home crowd erupted with joy as Maria SILVEIRA secured a gold medal in Coimbra in the under 57kg category. The Portuguese judoka demonstrated her exceptional form by reaching her third gold medal of the season in impressive fashion, all the more significant as it occurred in her home country. This victory serves as a strong motivation for Silveira, especially with the European Championship just a month away, also taking place in Portugal. Expressing her delight, Silveira said,

I am truly thrilled with my gold medal here in Coimbra. Competing in my home country was a major driving force for me in this tournament.

 She also highlighted the value of this competition as a preparation for the upcoming European Championship, noting,

 I wanted to assess areas where I could still improve for the European Championship. I am really happy because I was able to  identify certain details that still require more training and that is always positive.

Silveira’s impressive record of three gold medals in four finals underscores her exceptional talent and sets high expectations for her performance in the forthcoming European Championship. Reflecting on her goals, she declared,

My primary objective is undoubtedly to secure a medal in the upcoming European Championship. Last year did not unfold as I had hoped, so this year I am determined to give my best effort and strive for success.

Overall, Italy emerged as the dominant force in the competition, securing a remarkable 5 gold medals. They were closely trailed by Spain, who claimed an impressive 4 gold medals.
