Skopje, the vibrant capital of North Macedonia, has firmly cemented its place on the European judo map this summer. In just four weeks, the city has proudly hosted not one, but two major judo events, the Cadet European Judo Championships and the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) 2025, bringing together the continent’s most promising young talents.
Although the final medals of the EYOF have only just been awarded, Skopje shows no signs of slowing down. The city remains in motion as it prepares to welcome over 250 judoka from 26 nations for the Junior European Cup, taking place this weekend, 2–3 August. Once again, all eyes will turn to North Macedonia, where the local organising team continues to impress with its professionalism and passion.
The North Macedonian Judo Federation has displayed remarkable commitment in orchestrating events of such scale and significance in quick succession. Their efforts not only promote judo on the international stage but also create invaluable opportunities for local athletes. By hosting cups across all levels, cadet, junior, and soon, senior, they allow homegrown judoka to test themselves against strong international competition without the burden of travel. This approach is already proving fruitful, offering a clear development pathway for rising stars across the region.
