We have been teased earlier this year with the performance of double Olympic Champion, Lasha BEKAURI of Georgia, however he pulled out from competition in the final moments. Again we see him on the entry, but it just so happens to be a continental open, in Spain.
Bekauri’s final tournament before he competed in the Paris Olympic Games was the Madrid European Open, sharing the tatami with another soon-to-be-crowned Champion, Teddy RINER (FRA). This weekend will be his debut in the new Olympic cycle, which of course he will be looking to claim as his once again and add another historic title to the collection.

The highest ranked to share the stage with Bekauri in Benidorm will be World bronze medallist, Erlan SHEROV (KGZ), ranked #11 in the world, however when there is a superstar on the tatami, each of their opponents has nothing to lose, creating some dynamic blows. This will likely be the case on the 18th of May 2025. It will be tough but it will be a welcome back nonetheless for the decorated Georgian athlete.
On Friday 16th of May the live draw will take place at 19:30 local time on JudoTV.com, don’t miss the results and action-packed this weekend!
