THE NETHERLANDS MOST SUCCESSFUL AT THE ECUP IN FOLLONICA

Second day in Follonica, the Netherlands finished at the top of the medal tally. With five won gold medals, they came up in front of Italy. In any case good results for Italy with 20 medals.


Gold medals for the Netherlands were won by Sanne Vermeer U63 kg, Merel Barkman +70 kg, Coen Van Winden U73 kg, Jan Reijntjens U81 kg and Simeon Catherina U90 kg, with two all Dutch finals in +70 and U81 kg. First gold medals were also won by the Austrian judoka Stephan Hegyi +90 kg and for Slovenia did it Petra Opresnik in 70 kg. The fifth gold for Italy came today from the young Flavia Favorini in U57 kg.


Franco Capelletti, the Vice-President of the EJU and FIJLKAM said “It was a succes to have lot of participants and national representative in this first edition of European Cup Cadets in Tuscany.  Also the technical level expressed by the athletes was absolutely remarkable, this is the results of hard work of athletes, coaches and national Federations”.
