THE ULTIMATE TEST

Podgorica Senior European Cup 2025

THE ULTIMATE TEST

On 7 March, a press conference was held at the head quarter of the Montenegrin Judo Federation ahead of the Podgorica Senior European Cup 2025, marking a key moment for the local organising committee as they prepare for the senior European Championships in April. The event serves as the final test before welcoming Europe’s elite judoka to Montenegro.

Among the notable attendees were Mr Jovica Rečević, President of the Montenegrin Judo Federation; Mr Marinko Jovović, Vice-President; Mr Ilija Vukotić, Head Coach of the Montenegrin Judo Team; and Petar Radović, Montenegrin judoka. President Rečević acknowledged the challenges of organising such a prestigious event, particularly in ensuring the readiness of the arena. However, he reassured that preparations are progressing well and any obstacles would be successfully overcome.

Head Coach Vukotić expressed enthusiasm for the record-breaking number of participants set to compete over the weekend; “I am happy about the record number of entries, as it provides our young athletes the opportunity to compete against a strong lineup of judoka from Europe and overseas. They will have the chance to fight through multiple rounds, gaining valuable experience ahead of the major event in April. Competing in front of a home crowd is a unique experience, and this weekend serves as the ultimate test, both for us as organisers and for our team.”

With both excitement and numbers growing, the Podgorica Senior European Cup 2025 promises to be an important milestone in Montenegro’s journey to host the EJU flagship event next month, ensuring both logistical readiness and competitive excellence. Follow the event live online via judotv.com.
