VETERAN EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS SET TO ADD TO RICH MINOAN HISTORY

European Judo Championships Veterans Heraklion 2022

VETERAN EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS SET TO ADD TO RICH MINOAN HISTORY

Heraklion was the center of the Minoan Kingdom, rich of history and traditions, myths as well. Located in the beautiful island of Crete that hosts a major amount of tourists every year, the city is all set to host this major event, the Veteran European Judo Championships 2022.

The organising committee is well prepared to offer a solid judo experience to all veterans. The location, sport infrastructures, the vibe, the weather and the traditional cuisine all mix and make the perfect set for this event.
Dimitrios Michailidis, President of the Hellenic Judo Federation stated that,

The Veteran European Championship in Heraklion will be a festival of judo in this beautiful city which is located by the sea, the Ministry of Sports and Region of Crete support and co-host the event along with the HJF. The Ministry of Sports and Region of Crete in their effort to make Heraklion a centre for big international events, have upgraded and updated infrastructures of Heraklion, and the city is well experienced at this point to host big sport events. This gives us confidence along with the support of EJU as well.

The Sport Director for the HJF, Nikos Iliadis, is also very positive about this event,

This Championship is essential in our calendar, the most important I might say – the way I see it of this year for the HJF – given the character of the event itself. The HJF with great conscientiousness and sensitivity manages the preparations. I truly cherish the will and the passion of this age category and my personal goal is mainly to host and accommodate the friendships of judo athletes from previous years. Heraklion will be a place of meeting of experiences, emotions, and stories to tell later.
