WHAT'S ON THIS WEEK?

WHAT'S ON THIS WEEK?

As spring gradually makes its presence felt, we move forward with another weekly preview. This week promises to be a busy one, packed with exciting events and high-level competition. In total, over 2,000 judoka will take to the mats across multiple locations. So, where do we begin?

The elite will commence the week with an International Training Camp in Tashkent, following their performances at last weekend’s Grand Slam. Shortly after, the IJF World Tour shifts to Linz for the Upper Austria Grand Prix 2025, featuring a strong field of over 450 judoka from 53 nations. A detailed preview of this highly anticipated event will be available midweek.

The IJF World Kata Series is also set to begin, with its opening stop in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, previously the site of an EJU Kata tournament. Currently, 198 judoka from 19 nations are registered, meaning there are nearly 100 pairs set to showcase their technical excellence across various categories. While the event welcomes international competitors, European judoka are well-positioned to claim top honours.

Meanwhile, Malaga will host a three-day training camp from Monday to Wednesday, following last weekend’s junior cup. From there, junior judoka will cross the border into Portugal to compete in the Portimão Junior European Cup 2025. This stunning coastal location will welcome over 300 judoka from 21 nations, promising high-level bouts in an extraordinary setting.

The competition schedule intensifies over the weekend, with both cadets and seniors in action too. Cadets will travel to the annual Antalya Millennium Team Cadet European Cup 2025, featuring an impressive lineup of nearly 450 judoka from 24 countries. At the same time, Montenegro is finalising preparations for EJU’s flagship event, the senior European Championships, by hosting the Podgorica Senior European Cup 2025. This test event will see over 300 judoka from 29 nations competing at the Sports Center Morača, ensuring all details are perfected ahead of the big day, or rather big week in April. There is no rest for anyone this week as more than 100 judoka from the older generation are heading to the Tbilisi Veteran European Cup 2025.

But that’s not all. The Official EJU Online Photography Workshop will take place on 8 March, offering an excellent opportunity for photography enthusiasts at all levels. Whether you are just beginning your journey in capturing the ‘perfect moment’ or are already an experienced professional, this course has something for everyone. More details, including registration information, can be found via the following link. On the same day, the global judo community will come together to celebrate International Women’s Day.

As mentioned, prepare for an action-packed week ahead. Follow all events live on judotv.com and stay connected with us via social media at @europeanjudo.
