WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2021 WILL TAKE PLACE IN VIENNA

We are delighted to announce that the 2021 World Judo Championships will be hosted in Vienna, Austria. The last World Championships in the alpine republic hosted only 46 men and 37 women years ago.

The President of the Austrian Judo Federation, Dr. Hans Paul KUTSCHERA expressed his thoughts after the official anouncement during the IJF Gala in Baku:

“We are extremely pleased and proud to host the World Championships in 2021. I would like to thank Mr. Marius L. Vizer  and the IJF board for his trust and Heinz-Christian Strache, Minister of Sport for his support.

I am sure that these championships will be a positive influence for the further development of our great sport. Of course it is a huge challenge but we are ready for this fantastic event in Austria.”

The Judo World Championships is the major event on the judo calendar with more than 800 athletes from more than 120 countries and will take place from 12 -19 September 2021 in the Wiener Stadthalle.
