This year, the global judo community comes together on 28 October to celebrate World Judo Day under a theme that is deeply needed in today’s world: PEACE.
In a time when peace is increasingly precious, the message of this year’s celebration, “Judo is Peace, Unity and Friendship”, reminds us of the sport’s power to bring people together beyond borders, cultures, and beliefs. Judo teaches understanding, respect, and harmony, values that form the foundation for peaceful coexistence.
Across the globe, dojos, schools, and communities are encouraged to take part by organising events, workshops, and gatherings that promote these values and strengthen the bonds between people of all ages and backgrounds.

The European Judo Union (EJU) continues to emphasise the vital role of peace within the judo family. Through initiatives such as the White Card campaign in partnership with Peace and Sport, the EJU encourages gestures of inclusion, equality, and solidarity. Holding up a white card has become a universal symbol of peace, and a reminder that our shared humanity extends far beyond competition.
Judo is more than a sport; it is a way of life built on respect, discipline, and mutual understanding. Whether on or off the tatami, these values guide judoka to act with integrity and compassion, contributing to a more peaceful world.
On this World Judo Day, let us celebrate the spirit of judo and continue to stand together for peace, unity, and friendship.
